What is M² Principle in BOPP tape — and why it matters for your packaging
Most tape buyers focus only on price. But two hidden numbers — micron thickness and roll length — determine whether your packaging actually holds. Here's what to look for and how KTI's M² principle protects you.

The problem nobody talks about
When you order 100 metres of BOPP tape, do you actually get 100 metres? When the label says 40 micron, is it really 40 micron? For most buyers, the answer is no — and they don't even know it.
Across the Indian tape market, short rolling and thin micron are common practices. A roll sold as 100 metres may contain 65–70 metres. A tape labelled 40 micron may be manufactured at 28–32 micron. The cost saving for the manufacturer is significant. The cost for you — failed packaging, damaged goods, wasted time — is far higher.
What is the M² Principle?
At Kanpur Tape Industry, every roll is manufactured to our M² standard — M for Metre Guarantee, M for Micron Guarantee. This means every roll is tested before dispatch to confirm it matches the label exactly. No exceptions.
How to verify tape quality before buying
Ask your supplier for a batch QC report. Weigh a roll — a genuine 100m 40-micron 48mm roll weighs approximately 280–290 grams. Buy a sample before committing to bulk. At KTI, we offer free samples with no commitment — WhatsApp us and we'll dispatch.
Bottom line
Price per roll is not the true cost of tape. Factor in packaging failures, reapplication time, and customer complaints — and full-micron, full-metre tape from a verified manufacturer is always cheaper in the long run.
